Single Comb Rhode Island Reds. and have made great improvements over the first Reds exhib- ited. At the same time, all of the good qualities of the earlier birds have been retained and they are today as they were fifty years ago on the Rhode Island farms, great producers of eggs and the fastest growers of any of the middle weight vari- eties. In fact no other birds fit in between the small Mediter- ranean and the middle class American breeds as does this plumn active fowl. ' Several of the best breeders on the Pacific Coast were quick to see the great possibilities in these useful birds and have de- veloped them along their original lines of utilitv and beauty.
