JLOTS is an expeditionary capability utilized by the Department of Defense (DoD) to transport military vehicles and cargo from roll-on, roll-off ships at sea to the shore via an improvised port infrastructure. JLOTS are used when the DoD needs to deliver military vehicles and supplies to a shore-side locations which do not possess a traditional port infrastructure, such as bare beaches, austere ports or to ports which have incurred damage from a natural disaster or war-time conflict. ACB 1 conducts ship-to-shore transportation and construction support as a part of joint amphibious operations around the world.
