He was born December 16, 1865, inSpring-field Township, Clark Coimtj,Ohio, and is a son of Sylvanus and ElizaJane (Henslee) Roller. Sylvanus Eoller was born in Virginiaand when a child came to Ohio with hisfather, Andrew Eoller. The family madethe trip from Virginia in wagons, andsettled on a tract of timberland in Spring-field Township, although the father hadbeen offered a large tract of land at Trap-pers Corners for his old horse that wasntworth a hundred dollars, but he took thefarm in Spring-field Township in prefer-ence. Herehe lived the remainder of his life, passingaway at the advanced age of eighty-oneyears. His wife, Anna Katherine Roller,died April 17, 1864, aged seventy-sevenyears. They reared a family of six chil-dren, three sons and three daughters, ofwhom Sylvanus and twin sister, Sally,were the oldest. Sylvanus Roller was born March 28,1820, and practically spent his entire lifein Clark County. He came into posses-sion of part of the Roller estate, and tothis added more land, a part of which isnow owned by our subject. He marriedEliza Jane Henslee, who is still living andthey reared two children—Charles E., thesubject of this sketch; and Ada M., thewife of M^illiam Thomas. M
