The late Col. Francis "Miki" Bowers Jr. was recognized by the community, various schools and the Hawaii Army National Guard as a great example of a citizen-Soldier. Bowers retired after 31 years of military service, 29 of them in the Hawaii Army National Guard. The Wahiawa armory was renamed after him during a memorialization ceremony May 4, 2014 at Wahiawa, Hawaii. Col.
