Order of the Legion of Honour (1804 - 1815) - a breast star "Grand Aigle" Scaled-down version "demi-taille" fashioned in fine silver embroidery, the cross arms constructed with small sequins, the reverse with a textile liner and light leather covering preserved in fragments. Diameter 69 mm. "Demi-taille" examples of the breast star to the Legion of Honour are very rare. A stylistically similar example from the estate of Marshal of the Empire Nicolas Charles Oudinot (1767 - 1847) was sold at auction by PIASA, Paris, on 4 December 2006 (lot 107).
