THE great procession on the first day of the new centuryfrom Farm Cove to Centennial Park, where theProclamation establishing the Commonwealth ofAustralia was read, and the Earl of Hopetounsworn-in as the first Governor-General, started at to the start the Imperial, Indian, and Intercolonialtroops paraded in the Domain, also the New South Walestroops who had returned from active service in South Governor-General, having ofiicially landed on the15th December, did not, as was originally intended, goafloat again on the ist of January for the purpose of formallylanding a second time, but joined the procession as it passedthrough the Domain in the direction of St. Marys Cathedral.
