Raphael Blanchard (1857-1919), French physician and parasitologist. Blanchard's positions included Professor at the Paris Faculty of Medicine, and membership of the French national Academy of Medicine (1894). A founding member of the Zoological Society of France (1876), he also founded the journal 'Archives de Parasitologie' (1898) and the French Society for the History of Medicine (1902). From 1895, he was a member of the International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature. He was made an Officer of the Legion of Honour in 1912.
