Spider web encrusted with dew, Kennington Meadows. Why are they so visible at this time of year, you may ask? There are two reasons - firstly the soft early morning mists from the river makes them light up magically - just like this - when the sun is low. And secondly, the spiders must breed before they die. That means they must fatten up. And that means they need food, fast. Isn't science just wonderful?
