Kelp gulls (Larus dominicanus vetula) on a beach. This bird, also known as the southern black-backed gull, is found around the coasts of South America, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand and Antarctica. It can grow to 65 centimetres in length. The kelp gull feeds on fish, amphibians, bird's eggs, chicks and carrion. Photographed on the west coast of South Africa.
