The Myatts Field North housing estate in Brixton, South London proposed for redevelopment. Further details in Description.
Myatts Field North Estate is in the London Borough of Lambeth about a mile north of Brixton town centre to the east of Brixton Road. Before the mid-Nineteenth Century the area was farmland but was then developed as traditional Victorian workers' housing. The site was cleared in the early 1970s as part of a slum clearance policy and the housing estate was designed by the Borough Architect. There have been a number of improvements to the estate and the housing stock since the late 1990s. In 2010 the redevelopment of the estate has been proposed with the demolition of 305 units, refurbishment of 172 units and the building of approximately 808 new residential units together with new roads and footpaths, landscaping, shops, car parking and a community centre. The area of the estate shown is Fairbairn Green.
