The commerce of the harbor is not materially diflferent from last years report,wherein it is stated that the value of the imports was $1,850,000, and exports^3,800,000, and the gross tonnage of vessels using the harbor 1,710,000 tons. The original condition of the navi^^able channel is first a falsedirection of the canal mouth with a depth there at mean low water of3J feet, thence up to Little Washington de])ths varying from to at mean low water, and thence to Old Bridge dei)th varying to feet at mean low water.
