Harriet Prescott Spofford
Harriet Prescott Spofford (1835-1921) was an American novelist and poet who was born in Maine and then moved to Massachusetts. She is particularly known for her novels, poems, and detective stories. Among her works are The Thief in the Night (1872) and A Scarlet Poppy (1894).
