The cupric hydroxide isreduced to cuprous hydroxide with evolution ofnitrogen gas. A hot 10 per cent solution of caustic potash is then added until a slight precipitation ofcuprous hydroxide takes place. If the solution in thiscondition is brought in contact with a clean glasssurface a bright deposit of copper forms on is thin and perfectly reflecting. «95.
