ANEW method of depositing copper on glass hasrecently been discovered by an English investi-gator. A mixture of one part of freshly distilledphenylatydrazine and two parts of water is heateduntil the solution is clear. A warm solution of cuprichydroxide in ammomia is then added (made by precipitating sulphate of copper by potash, washing anddissolving in ammonia). The cupric hydroxide isreduced to cuprous hydroxide with evolution ofnitrogen gas. A hot 10 per cent solution of caustic potash is then added until a slight precipitation ofcuprous hydroxide takes place. If the solution in thiscondition is brought in contact with a clean glasssurface a bright deposit of copper forms on is thin and perfectly reflecting. «95.
