View towards Abolvardi from Tall-e Takht, Pasargadae, Iran
Near the tomb of Cyrus the Great is a small hill containing the Citadel (Tall-e Takhr), seen here. Tall-e Takht fortifications are also called Takht-e Soleyman (Throne of Soleman). The base of the structure consists of several levels of limestone blocks thought to be built by Cyrus the Great as a base for another palace structure. In subsequent centuries, layer of mud bricks were place on top to function as fortifications. Good views over the Plain of Pasargadae and the town of Abolvardi can be had from the top.
