The advantages of the new system which the ex-position test would fully determine are: that thecombustion is greatly accelerated by the incandes-cent surface and may be, concentrated where the heatis desired; the combustion is perfect with a minimumexcess of air; high temperatures are possible withoutthe aid of elaborate regenerative devices and as amatter of economy the originators claim for it twicethe heat with half the cost. In the heaters to be used for cooking there willbe one great difference from all the stoves now de-. This will be another utility which will be in thenature of the most interesting exhibit to the gas menof the world and especially to the scientists who firstconceived the idea of surface combustion. Gas will also be used for patrol purposes andthe grounds will be so well equipped with gas light-ing that a complete suspension of electric power wouldleave the grounds well lighted. After the closing hoursfor the 10 months gas will be used until daybreak. These are the things that the exposition will dowith gas and the science that has been brought fromthe ends of the world to get the most out of its many exhibits in the great exhibit palaces relatingto manufacture and the various appliances for gas con-sumption will add to the
