Portrait from Albert Bridge to Irwell Footbridge, Irwell Street Bridge, Left Bank Apartments, Rall Quay Building, Manchester, UK

Since 1997, the Spinningfields area of Manchester City Centre, between Deansgate and the River Irwell has been developed as a business, retail and residential development by Allied London. The Left Bank Apartments, on the Manchester bank of the Irwell, were completed in the summer of 2007. This development, which includes an elevated skyway linking the two blocks (seen here), includes 391 luxury apartments above riverside restaurants. The Ralli Quay Government Building (housing the offices of HM Customs and Excise, Crown Prosecution Service and the UK Border Agency) stand on the Salford bank of the river (right mid-distance). The River Irwell Footbridge connects the Left Bank Apartments with the Salford bank of the river. The Irwell Street Bridge, a bow iron bridge dating to 1877 in the background of the shot, carries New Quay Street across the River Irwell from Salford (right bank) to Manchester (left bank). Portrait shot from the stone and brick skew arch Albert Bridge, dating to 1844.
