Clay was employed inthe construction of the horizontal roofs of the building material for the timbers of the roof, forthe platform inside the towers, for the beams in someof the walls, for the pillars and doors, was parastades, on the other hand, seem to have beenbuilt of stone, not of wood as in the case of the II. In the construction of the pavement burntlime was used, as is seen on the steep ascent near thebuilding YI M, leading from the South Circuit Wallto the high terrace of the inner citadel. It is likelythat lime cement, like the IMycenaean pottery, wasan importation, since it has not been discovered else-where.
