Pictured here at right (with right hand on his chest) is English navigator Sir Francis Drake aboard his galleon "Pelican," which he had renamed midway on his voyage around the world 1577-1580 the "Golden Hind" in honor of his patron Sir Christopher Hatton, whose coat-of-arms featured a golden hind.
