On March 23, 2010, several workers unions (CGT, CFDT, FSU, UNSA and Solidaires) called for strike and demonstration in France to protest against government policy and to influence the social agenda announced by Nicolas Sarkozy and defend pensions. Also, many professionals seized the opportunity to express their discontentment about deteriorating economic conditions. In Paris, demonstrators marched from Place de la République to Place de la Nation.
