(Actual size. Depth, 2 to 3ft.) No 1452 is an object of terra-cotta, representing in relief the beardedficrure of an old man with a Phrygian cap on his head. Professor Sayceremarks to me regarding this object: The figure is in the Assyrian sty each side of the head is a winged thunderbolt, such as is found on thecoins of Elis and Sicily. It has been explained by Mr. Percy Gardner mthe Numismatic Chronicle, N. S. xix. (1879). We shall find it again on theterra-cotta plaq^^es figured under Nos. 1459-1461.
