The ground should then be thoroughly dug or plowed to the depth of 10 to 12 inches, using lib- erally well-decomposed man- ure or "; It is al- so essential for a fine lawn to have prooer drainage, a careful preparation of the soil, thorough rolling and a selection of the seeds of such grasses as will present a lux- uriant verdure from early spring till late in autumn; and the frequent mowings with a lawn mower. How- ever much care is bestowed on the soil and seed, no lawn will be beautiful without fre- quent mowing and rolling. We have given much thought, Lawn View and many experiments to se- cure the best mixture, and think what we offer is the best possible mixture for permanent lawns, resisting the severe droughts of our climate better than any other. It may be sown very early in spring or fall, and should be sown at the rate of from 3 to 4 bushels per acre. One pound is sufficient to thoroughly sow 800 square feet of ground. It should be borne in mind that, in order to pro- duce the best results, grass seeds for lawns should be sown at least twice as thickly as if sown for hay.
