Meganyctiphanes norvegica (M. Sars) and Thysanoessa longicaudata (Kr0yer) Meganyctiphanes norvegica was collected in the waters off northeast Greenland and the Barents Sea, but not within the Arctic Basin. Thysan- oessa longicaudata was abundant at some of the stations off northeast Greenland and was collected several times at high latitudes within the Arctic Ocean (Fig. 1). It was not collected north of Greenland nor with- in the area of the Arctic Basin in which T. raschii and T. inermis pre- dominated.
