Airman Silas Shackelford, a Navy aviation boatswain's mate, greases a steam catapult shuttle prior to flight operations aboard the aircraft carrier USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74) as the ship operates in the Pacific Ocean on Nov. 10, 2006. Stennis is serving as the flagship for Commander, Carrier Strike Group 3 in a joint task force exercise off the coast of southern California.
