In Bobartia, the other South African member of the tribe Sisyrinchieae, the discovery during the past twelve years of two very distinct species is of particular interest, as they provide some important 'missing links'. These species, B. paniculata Lewis (Journ. Bot. VII, 50 (1941)) and B. lilacina Lewis {Journ. Bot. XI, 108 (1945)), both from mountain districts in the Cape Province,.
