China/USA: 'Li Hung-Chang visits Hogan's Alley'. Popular cartoon by Richard Felton Outcault (14 January 1863 - 25 September 1928) in the World Comic Weekly, Sunday 13 September, 1896. Li Hongzhang or Li Hung-chang (pinyin: Lǐ Hóngzhāng), Marquis Suyi of the First Class, GCVO, (15 February 1823 - 7 November 1901) was a leading statesman of the late Qing Empire. He quelled several major rebellions and served in important positions of the Imperial Court, including the premier viceroyalty of Zhili. The Yellow Kid emerged as the lead character in Hogan's Alley, drawn by Richard F. Outcault.
