How logical, then, that we should fortify our homes against the dreary winter months by growing some Ilowers. Nature herself provides certain bulbs into N\ hich, last spring, she stored an abundance of sunshine and blooming power. The Dutch bulbs which we offer herewith, are really flowers in embryo. With the help of soil, water, and the congenial warmth of the home, they promptly burst forth in gay colors that help shorten the dull midwinter days. We list in the following pages the choicest of the many floral treasures which France and Holland contribute to our in- door and early spring gardens. Only such sorts are offered in the diff'erent classes as have stood the severest tests of our most critical cus- tomers for years. AH are priced as moderately as our insis- tence for the most vigorous and most select bulbs, together with present import conditions, warrant. We import direct from the growers. The flowering of the bulbs is an easy matter, if the simple , cultural directions given within this catalogue are followed. Most of them should be planted between early October and Thanksgiving Day. A few, like Paper-White Narcissi and Roman Hya- cinths may be planted, for a succession of flowers, as long as bulbs are obtainable.
