5TH FLEET AREA OF OPERATIONS (Dec. 19, 2017) Capt. Pete Collins, the commanding officer of the amphibious transport dock ship USS San Diego (LPD 22) oversees an underway replenishment with the fleet replenishment oiler USNS John Lenthall (T-AO 189) and the amphibious dock landing ship USS Pearl Harbor (LSD 52). San Diego, with the embarked 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit, is deployed to the 5th Fleet area of operations in support of maritime security operations to reassure allies and partners and preserve the freedom of navigation and the free flow of commerce in the region.
