The former Coast Guard Cutter Kaw is depicted heading out to escort traffic in the St. Mary's River near Detroit. The cutter, which was decommissioned in 1979, escorted coal boats from Toledo to Detroit and back to Toledo during the winter months as part of "Operation Coal Shovel."
