View of the Old Port with the elevated highway Aldo Moro and Palazzo San Giorgio, a magnificent frescoed palace buil in 1260, Genoa, Liguria, Italy

Palazzo San Giorgio, now the seat of the Autonomous Consortium of the Port of Genoa, was founded in 1260 by Brother Oliviero on behalf of the Captain of the People Gulielmo Boccanegra as the seat of government of the city. After a few years that function was lost, it housed offices and even became a prison (where was imprisoned Marco Polo), until the Banco delle Compere di San Giorgio was installed there.
