The 107th Infantry Memorial on Fifth Avenue and 67th Street in New York on Monday, July 14, 2014. Created by sculptor Karl Illava the statuary was dedicated in 1927. This is one of nine Doughboy statues erected in NYC to honor the foot soldiers of World War One. 28 July 2014 marks the 100th anniversary of the start of First World War. The armistice for the war occurred on the 1 November 1918. Over 9 million were killed during those four years and a third years, one of the deadliest conflicts in history. (© Richard B. Levine)
