Berlin-Mitte, Oranienburg. First French Cemetery is a listed historical monument. Grave of Franz Bendel (1833-1874), composer. Established in the eighteenth century on land donated by Prussian King Frederick II, Frederick the Great. There were originally four cemeteries on this land and two still exist - the French cemetery and the Dorotheenstadt cemetery. The French Cemetery was established in 1780 the French Reformed Church of Berlin as a burial place for the descendants of the Huguenots. From 1835, the community used the French cemetery II on the Liesenstraße. Established in the eighteenth century on land donated by Prussian King Frederick II, Frederick the Great.
