ARTICHOKE Native of Southern Europe Culture — Sow seed in plant bed of rich, rather moist soil in rows 10 inches apart. When plants are 3 to 4 inches high transfer to field in rows 4 to 6 feet apart with 3 to 4 feet between plants. Frequent cultivation and plenty of moisture are essential. 6 ounces of seed are required for an acre. LARGE GREEN GLOBE OR PARIS Used for home garden planting, canning, and shipping; grown extensively in California; heads large, slightly elongated; scales thick at base.
