ATRESIA OF THE VAGINA 34I Guggisberg reports a death following gangrene of a piece of boweltransplanted by Baldwins method. This accident emphasizes theimportance of preserving the blood supply of the loops of bowel untilthe new blood supply is assured. The double loop has the following advantages: (a) it forms a muchlarger vagina; (b) it provides a better blood supply; (c) with it we avoidany subsequent dilatation so often necessary when the single loop isemployed. Marshall has collected a number of cases of pregnancy following theformation of a new vagina, mostly by plastic methods, but my under-standing is that none of these were cases of
