Neck and head arteries. Coloured magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) scan of a normal carotid system of a 36 year old patient. At bottom right and left are the right and left subclavian arteries, which supply the arms. At bottom centre are the right and left common carotid arteries, which supply the neck. Each common carotid artery branches into the internal and external carotid arteries. The internal carotid arteries supply the brain, while the external carotid arteries supply the rest of the head. The internal carotid artery terminates at the circle of Willis (at eye level), which connects the arteries that supply the brain.
