Pictured: Long queues of cars at the Severn Bridge tolls on the westbound carriageway of the M4 in south Wales, UK. Friday 14 December 2018 Re: Work to remove the toll booths on the Severn bridges has commenced as the two motorway crossings into south Wales are becoming toll free. Motorists have been warned their journeys into south Wales may be affected as the M4 Prince of Wales bridge will shut westbound for the next three nights. The tolls have been in place since the first crossing opened in 1966, but will be removed on Monday.
