Sgt. Grier M. Shotwell, serving with the 310th Engineers during World War One, captured this photograph on February 26, 1919. The image shows the construction of blockhouses by members of A and B Companies at Verst 445, which is located half a mile from the front line. Two blockhouses are being built on each side of the track. The picture provides a perspective of the relation between two houses on the right side of the track, looking west. This particular scene depicts military activities taking place in Verst, 445, Russia. The photograph carries the notation "ISSUED NUMBER ,1918."
