Ceduna Jetty at Twilight
Ceduna Jetty is on the west coast of the Eyre Peninsula. It was built in 1902 and from then until the 1960's Ceduna was a main western trading port., being visited by sailing ketches and steamships in the early days, and later by more modern trading vessels. Ceduna ceased to be a main sea port when deeper moorings and railway links were constructed at nearby Thevenard. The jetty is impressively long at 368 metres, and nowadays is very popular with fishermen and tourists. This photograph was taken shortly after sunset, in the brief interval between deep dusk and full night, and the colours and lighting are an accurate recording of the scene. The temptation to make excessive use of photo editing to provide over saturated and garish colours has been avoided.
