A Mameluke sabre, Hungary(?), 18th century. Single-edged blade broadening at the double-edged point with narrow fullers on each side. Etched with flowery vine decoration and pseudo-Arabic script cartouches etched on both sides of the forte. Iron cross-piece with decoratively cut quillons, grip strap and pommel retaining remnants of a gilded background. Leather-covered grip. Shortened, fragmentary, leather covered wooden scabbard with iron locket and suspension bar cut en suite.
