The paper is then put under tension by pull-ing out the shafts (4) to which the jaws are fastened by anintermediate spring (3). The shaft (13) is given a reciprocat-ing motion by the revolution of the wheel (19), and the paperis folded and refolded over the edges of the slot in the thinmetallic plate and around the rollers (12), the revolving ofwhich eliminates friction between the paper and the in each revolution of the drive wheel (19), the jaws arepulled out to what may be termed the maximum position andthe paper is then under a tension of 1000 grams.
