On the right area few houses and their gardens, the trees in which are bared andleafless against the sky and in the distance a belt of dark wood-land runs in diminishing perspective across the picture. Theground is covered with snow, in which a number of chickensare scratching for food, while the blue dress of a peasantwoman makes a vivid note of color against the background ofwhite.
