A wash drawing of Bartolomeo Vanzetti ,1888 – 1927, (centre left) and Nicola Sacco .1891 – .1927.(centre right) handcuffed to their guards. The two Italian migrants to the USA were accused of being anarchists who had murdered a guard and a paymaster during an armed robbery at the Slater and Morrill Shoe Company in Braintree, Massachusetts. They were found guilty and were executed in the electric chair at Charlestown State Prison on July 14, 1921. Some believe that they were innocent scapegoats used as a convenient means to put a stop to their militant activities supporting Galleanists.
