I have letters from the Prime Minister ofevery Province outside of Ontario and the following are the results of my in-vestigation : East .year there were G5 Societies in Britisii Columbia which receiveda grant of $S5,000. And not only, in this way has that Province helped theSocieties. During the last five years it has contributed $130,000 to help them inerecting buildings on their exhibition grounds. Tf you divide the 65 Societiesinto the $85,000 you will find they gave to each Society $1,308. If we with our380 Societies, got the same proportion as they did, we would be ^ettino- no lessthan $497,000. °. Shorthorn. 1 rom Alberta we could not get the figures as accurately as from the other1 rovmces but we found there that for every one who becomes a member of abociety the Government contributes one dollar and also for everv dollar expendedm prize money the Government pays two thirds of it. In Ontario the Societyexpends two-thirds and the Government one-third. Tlie grants to the AlbertaSocieties during the past year was $100,000. Saskatchewan has 110 Societies. They gave $60,000 of a grant, and theaverage to each Society was $545. Xow, suppose we in the Province of Ontariohad received the same amount as they did our grant would be 207,000. In PrinceEdward Island they give to each Society $1,308, which, in the same proportiontor Ontario would amount to $497,000. In Quebee they have 86 Societies and the U THE KEPOHT OF No. 4B grant was $130,000. The average for each Society was $1,512. If we had got thesame proportion as they we would receive $
