INCREASED ) HUT ALSO SUPPLY. While there is quite an increase in the demand for flowers the supply keeps forging ahead at a rate .that seems hopeless of regulating or in any way keeping up to. There is just about twice as much of almost every- thing in the market than is required. The department store demand gets very much of this "surplus" at a price which allows something for the grow- ers, without which outlet they would get nothing, so says one of the com- mission men. With this state of af- fairs there is no stability of prices, buyers having things practically their own way. The quality of the stock is fine, roses and carnations particularly so. Chrysanthemums are very plenti- ful. Wm. Turner is a star sort and Florence Harris is another. A few Bonnaffon are offered and Chieftain is a good pink, and so on. Prices are fully 25 per cent below those of a year ago. All Saints' day demand cleaned up the white pretty well. Violets are plentiful, but the weather is too warm as yet. All the outside stock is done, but even with this competition out of the way there is not the life to busi- ness that was expected. CLUB MEETING. The nietting developed into a rose night. E. G. Hill.
