The 1950's BRM V16, although a failure in terms of race results, still stands out as a technical icon for the time, with a staggering 500bhp from a 1500cc supercharged engine. It was said that when on full song (which wasn't very often it could be heard ten miles away ,and even now, many proclaim it as the best ever sounding racing car.
