More likely, however,as far as the immediate future is concerned,he is destined to go to France and practiceon the Kaiser. Doc is a good student and can be drawnaway from his books only by a chance to tellhis bow-boy and Indian stories. He is a good one too, as illustratedby the fact that he was on the first crosscountry team that W. & L. ever had, andthe team won, too. Entering college in1913, Witt remained out in the session of1916-17, to help keep the home fires able longer to stand the quiet life, hereturned this year for his degree.
