Blood analysis. Samples of donated blood being analysed by a blood typing machine, which automatically determines their blood types and screens them for blood-borne diseases. During transfusions, the blood type of the donated blood must be compatible with the recipient's blood type, since incompatibility can cause fatal immune reactions. If the donated blood is clean, it will be used in blood transfusions. The barcodes on the vacutainers are used to identify the blood samples throughout their analysis.
