The Spanish nobleman Luis Méndez de Haro and Jules Raymond Mazarin, known as Cardinal Mazarin, represented Spain and France respectively during a total of 23 meetings, negotiating the conditions that led to the treaty of peace (Treaty of the Pyrenees), signed on November 7, 1659.
