Rexford writes the following cultural notes ex- pressly for this book: 'This plant is better adapted to the greenhouse, or a plant- room in which the temperature and moisture can be controlled, than it is to the window-garden, where the air is almost always dry and the temperature fluctuating. Such varieties, however, as D, frdgram and D. indivisaâthe former with broad foli- age and the latter with very long, narrow grass-like leavesâcan be grown quite satisfactorily in the living-room if care is taken to prevent the red spider from injuring them. D. indivisa is very graceful in habit, and makes an excellent plant for the decora- tion of the table. The richly-colored varieties are among the finest ornaments of the greenhouse. 'The D
