ANSBACH, Germany -- Civilian firefighters from Army Garrison (USAG) Ansbach Fire and Emergency Services conducted Technical Rescue Training, November 27-30, 2017 at the Urlas Fire Fighting Training Center. Ansbach Fire and Emergency Services Chief of Operations Mr. Peter Wittmann was on site to observe the firefighters while training, as they used hydraulic and manually operated winches to secure and erect a crashed vehicle. To complete the training scenario, firefighters had to rescue a vehicle occupant (a test dummy) trapped beneath the car using the Stab-fast technical support system, raising the car with pneumatic lifting bags and effectively securing the vehicle in order to extract and rescue the trapped dummy-occupant. Fire and rescue training is a required, regular part of fire fighters annual performance testing and certification. ( Army photo by Charles Rosemond).
