George B. Hart, who was^Eepublican candidate in the Sixteenth ward for supervisor, was elected November 2 by a large majority. Armbrust, on East avenue, had an effective window display last week, consisting of pink and yellow mums and a large quantity of cosmos. Ferns and palms made a good background. Mr. Armbrust says business is good. According to reports from the up- town stores, the month of October was satisfactory and a larger amount of business was done during that month than during any October of previous years. ( George C. Saltford, of the Saltford Flower Shop, Inc., Poughkeepsie, N. Y., was in town last week. This is his first western trip, which will terminate at Cleveland. He visited all the stores and has become well acquainted. Eeturning from a 4-day trip through western Pennsylvania, Arthur Elder, of the Lord & Burnham Co., reports that the growers are most optimistic about the coming year and are talking green- house building in earnest. Building contracts received last month at the local office of this company have been far in excess of any other month of this year. E. E. Fry has purchased a handsome McCray icebox for his new store on West Main street. His window is at- tractively arranged with baskets of flowers. George T. Boucher reports business as being good. He has had a large amount of funeral work. Purcell is cutting fine pompons, for which he finds a ready sale. His other mums are good. Charles Suhr is doing a nice business in chrysanthemums.
